Creation of a strategic transport network
Thanks to building of a tunnel of Misireng and expansion of the state line №44, now from Seoul it is possible to reach port Sokcho for 2 hours. Building of a high-speed highway Dongso (Seoul-Chunchon-Jangjang), a high-speed highway of Donghe (Chzhummunchzhin-Sokcho), a double-track branch line of Donghe Bukbu (Kangryng-Gosong) and the double-track railway between Chunchon proceeds and
Sokcho. In twenty minutes of driving from port the international airport Jangjang is located. All it will allow port Sokcho to become strategically important transport knot overland, sea and an airline traffic.

PORT SOKCHO - THE MOST NORTHERN TRADING PORT AT THE KOREAN COAST OF EAST SEA. THESE ARE THE SEA GATE OF REPUBLIC KOREA DIRECTED ON FAR EAST REGION OF RUSSIA, THE PROVINCE JILIN, LIAONING AND HEJLUENTSZJAN THE CHINESE NATIONAL REPUBLIC BOTH THE CENTRAL AND NORTHERN PREFECTURES OF JAPAN.

Port Sokcho - one of the most beautiful ports of northern coast of Republic Korea. From its water area the fine kind on hills of Sorak, magnificent lakes and the city of Sokcho stretched between them opens, for what it name Naples East sea.
It is most close located to Far East region of Russia trading port of Republic Korea. It occupies a favourable geographical position, providing the shortest way for sea transportations between capital region of Korea and Chinese provinces possessing rich potential Jilin, Liaoning, Hejluntszjan and the Russian Far East. The port connects Korea with the Trans-Siberian railway and is strategic base for an exit to Europe through Mongolia, Kazakhstan, other states of Central Asia and Russia.

Sokcho - port providing one of axes of a cargo stream in Northeast Asia and entered into the innovative concept of development of the country till 2020. Besides service more than 370 fishing vessels, in port are available capacities for simultaneous mooring of seven ocean courts by displacement 1000 – 20000 tons. Port moorings possess transshipment ability в1150 thousand tons. In connection with increase in a trading exchange with Russia and China the annual increase in indicators of operation of port is observed.

Port territory - 3,132,000кв.м.; warehouses of open storage - 40,800кв.м.; throughput to a mooring - 7 courts; throughput of cargoes in a year 1,146: 1,000тонн; quantity of served fishing vessels (landing stage Chongcho and port Dongmen) - 372 vessels, 6,346 tons; quantity of moorings - 4:

· a new mooring: the containers, the mixed cargoes

· a mooring for the state courts

· a mooring for tourist courts

· landing stage for small courts.


The port aimed in the future
Development
Reflecting the tendency of expansion of trade relations and activization of a tourist exchange between the countries of pool of East sea - South Korea, China, Japan, Russia, it is planned to expand capacities of port that it could become strategically important in northern region. The program of development of port provides:

· till 2011 – creation of a passenger mooring on 1 vessel displacement of 30 thousand т. (270м)

· 2012 – 2015 – creation of one more passenger mooring on 1 vessel displacement 30т. (270м), building of the new passenger terminal

· 2016 – 2020г. – building of a mooring for processing of the mixed cargoes on 1 vessel displacement 20тыс.т. (210м), erection 29,700кв.м. Various park water constructions
